In Memoriam: Meredith A. Wedberg, PGM

Meredith A. Wedberg
Worthy Grand Matron
1969-1970

The Grand Chapter of North Dakota sorrowfully reports that we have lost another link in our golden chain with the passing of Sister Meredith Wedberg, Past Grand Matron of North Dakota, on February 7, 2018.

Sister Meredith was born October 6, 1921, in Hunter, ND, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Almon R. Sayer. She graduated from Hunter High School and attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND. She was united in marriage to William R. Wedberg on July 3, 1940. They had two children, Robert and Cheri, and grandchildren who were their pride and joy. She served her community as the President of the American Legion Auxiliary and of the Hunter Improvement Homemakers Club as well as providing musical accompaniment for high school vocal soloists and groups.

Her Eastern Star journey began with her initiation into Vesta Chapter #91 in Hunter, ND on October 13, 1949. During her more than 68 years of membership she served her local chapter as the Star Points of Adah and Esther, went up the line to serve as Worthy Matron multiple times, and was organist for many years.

The Grand Chapter of North Dakota was honored to have her serve in the Grand East for our 76th Annual Session in 1969-1970 with Brother Jack Stewart. Their “The Gift of Time” session was held in Fargo, North Dakota on June 10-12, 1970. After her grand year she also served the Grand Chapter of North Dakota as Grand Treasurer and was a member of the GGC ESTARL Committee. Sister Meredith also had the distinction of being North Dakota’s first floor officer in General Grand Chapter in 1985 when she was installed as Worthy Grand Organist.

Sister Meredith was very involved with Masonic youth organizations and was awarded the Grand Cross of Color.

The Grand Chapter of North Dakota extends deepest sympathy to Sister Meredith’s family, her friends, and to Mecca Chapter #5, Fargo, ND, where she was a member.
